I’m running out of adjectives to describe this beautiful country

I’m running out of adjectives to describe this beautiful country. There are only so many ‘amazing, stunning, beautiful, magical, spectacular’ I can use. Basically I just say wow all the time. Just at different levels wow, Wow and WOW.

I accepted an invitation from miss Lia, Barb and Rhonda to go to Ormiston Gorge in the West MacDonnell National Park, approximately 135 km west of Alice Springs.

As you head out of Alice Springs the ranges are scrub like with huge barren desert  like waves with a rocky layer ( picture a Flake Chocolate Bar laying horizontal) across the top.

The landscape changes the further you travel into the ranges. Beautiful rocky mountains everywhere covered in green (in all shades) bush land. In particular interesting ball like native grasses. We stopped off at a lookout on the way. The views WOW, just stunning. I loved natures own rock walls across the landscape.

The gorge, magical. I sat by the waters edge for a while soaking it all in. Ghost Gums with the white trunks and bright green leaves contrast starkly against the red rock. Native shrubs covered in tiny buds of yellow and purple.

A dingo wandered by looking for a fish before making his way up towards the picnic area looking for an easier meal option, a scrap or two.

I took a selfie just to show off no helmet hair (laughing)  I was also dressed in civilian clothes, not the standard jeans and leather jacket.

Actually a few people from the caravan park I’m staying at who I’ve met up with along the way didn’t recognise me, until they heard me mmmmmmm. Do you think they’re trying to tell me something?

About Heather

I’m free spirited by nature with a gypsy soul. I’ve never really been content to stay in the one place. There’s just too much to see and do in what really is a short life (when you think about it in the big picture). My mission is to experience as much as I can. To live not just exist. Growing up I always said I was going to be an old lady riding around on a Harley Davidson with purple rinse in my hair. So far one out of three isn’t bad. I’m taking a break, loading up the Fat Bob, hitching up ‘the trailer’ for some nomadic adventures around Australia. I’ve given away and sold off most of my possessions (a very liberating experience). The rest has gone into storage. Find Out More »
