I accepted an invitation from miss Lia, Barb and Rhonda to go to Ormiston Gorge in the West MacDonnell National Park, approximately 135 km west of Alice Springs.
As you head out of Alice Springs the ranges are scrub like with huge barren desert like waves with a rocky layer ( picture a Flake Chocolate Bar laying horizontal) across the top.
The landscape changes the further you travel into the ranges. Beautiful rocky mountains everywhere covered in green (in all shades) bush land. In particular interesting ball like native grasses. We stopped off at a lookout on the way. The views WOW, just stunning. I loved natures own rock walls across the landscape.
The gorge, magical. I sat by the waters edge for a while soaking it all in. Ghost Gums with the white trunks and bright green leaves contrast starkly against the red rock. Native shrubs covered in tiny buds of yellow and purple.
A dingo wandered by looking for a fish before making his way up towards the picnic area looking for an easier meal option, a scrap or two.
I took a selfie just to show off no helmet hair (laughing) I was also dressed in civilian clothes, not the standard jeans and leather jacket.
